2,000 words or less

So, back in January when I was all gung-ho about starting this blog up again, I got this idea that every Monday I’d make one long post of at least 1,000 words on some subject that interested me. There were two reasons for my interest in doing this:

1) it would get me writing, and
2) it would hopefully force me to spend some time researching topics for these posts.

Since I had this brilliant idea in January, I have done this exactly one time. On Feb. 2, I wrote about Ben Roethlisberger and his place in history following Pittsburgh’s Super Bowl win. If you care you can read that here.

I’m going to make a concerted effort to start this again and actually do it every week. I’m not sure I’ll get it done tonight, but I’m at least going to shoot for having something up next week. And I’m going to continue to plan to write this on Monday. Hell, I should just do it tonight – with Saints/Patriots on Monday Night Football, there should be plenty of things to inspire a thousand words… We’ll see how this goes; definitely want to start this again.

My week

Hockey meeting

Escorted a video crew around campus from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.; left them briefly for a 9:30 a.m. meeting, a 1 p.m. meeting and a 15-minute lunch.

Office taco buffet for our student workers; left work early to go home and check on Mel, who stayed home sick and by mid-afternoon wasn’t doing well at all.

Morning staff meeting.

All day in the car to go pick up Megan for the week.

*whew* – good thing I’m off next week. This week has been crazy, and it’s only Thursday.

Morticia Addams Bartlett

Morticia Addams Bartlett, originally uploaded by AndyBartlett.

Yep, the curse continues… Girl baby confirmed. Third girl for me; second for Melissa and I; eighth girl in eight tries, combined, for my two brothers and me. One of those two idiots will have to try and produce the mythical Bartlett male heir, because this is it for me. Good luck, suckers.

(I’m pumped – I love my girls to *death* and having a third one to add to the Saturday morning dogpile is going to be fantastic…)

Yesterday was a fun day

Yesterday was a good day.

My day started with a fun and productive meeting with a psychology professor for a story I’m going to try and work on; I had a great lunch of bar burgers with our women’s basketball coach; bought “G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra” on BluRay; had pizza buffet for dinner with Mel and Helen; had some fun socializing for about an hour and a half at a radio station client appreciation bash; watched “Melrose Place” and the first 45 minutes or so of “The Good Wife” with Melissa, then after she crashed and went to bed I stayed up until about 11:30 just messing around and watching the debut of the new “V” series on ABC.

In all, a very good day.

So, yeah.

So, yeah, what you’re seeing here has been my typical pattern with blogs and all other manner of Internet presences I’ve tried to start since I learned the Internet existed in 1994. Gung ho for a few months, then less so, then a few months of nothing.

Not surprising. Can’t figure out a way to force myself to break that pattern, either.
